1月11日に羽田図書館で多言語おはなし会をしました。今回は、インドネシア、ラトビア、スウェーデンのメンバーがそれぞれの母語で絵本の読み聞かせとゲーム、ダンス、歌を紹介しました。羽田空港に近い羽田図書館には、子どもだけでなく、大人や高校生も見学者として参加しました。日本語で話を聞いたあと、それぞれのお話をバハサインドネシア語、ラトビア語、スウェーデン語で聞きました。インドネシアから始まって、インドネシア語のおはなしとインドネシアのじゃんけんを楽しみました。次にラトビアで「やったね！ハリネズミくん」を読んでラトビアのダンスをしました。最後に、スウェーデンの「もりのこびとたち」を読み、スウェーデンのカエルの歌をスウェーデン語で歌いました。カエルの歌は、なんとインドネシアもスウェーデンと同じメロディーであるそうです。スウェーデンの絵本は、豊かな森の一年を感じるものでした。きれいなイラストで日本語でも翻訳されているので、みなさん図書館で探して読んでください。

On January 11, we had a multilingual storytelling event at the Haneda Library. It was such a joy to have members from Indonesia, Latvia, and Sweden join us to read picture books in their native languages, along with sharing some fun games, dances, and songs. We welcomed not just children, but also adults and high school students, making it a wonderful gathering at the library, which is conveniently located near Haneda Airport. After kicking things off with a story in Japanese, everyone got to enjoy captivating tales in Bahasa Indonesia, Latvian, and Swedish. We started our adventure with an Indonesian story and had a blast playing Indonesian rock-paper-scissors. Then we moved on to “You Did It, Mr. Hedgehog” in Latvian and even got up to dance a lively Latvian dance! Finally, we read “The Little Dwarfs of the Forest” from Sweden and sang the delightful Swedish frog song. It was such a surprise to discover that the frog song has the same melody in both Indonesia and Sweden! The Swedish book beautifully captures the story of a year in a lush forest and comes with lovely illustrations. It’s been translated into Japanese too, so be sure to check it out at the library!
