Yokohama Civic Gallery Azamino has been offering creative art activities for kids, and Free Play Zone is one of the popular ones even babies can engage in. However, some international families newly arrived in Japan told us they have problems booking the seats and wish to have a translation on the website. To open the doors for children from around the globe, SCC translated the flyer and registration form into English and plain Japanese (proofread by certified nonprofit Chiku Gakko), did English narration for the guidance video, and attended on the day to help with their communication in English and plain Japanese.

Since the trial session last year, the number of international families joining the free play zone has increased, and we are glad to know that SCC has bridged the gap. We were also happy to see children and families fully engaged in the activities even though it was such a cold day. The children had a fun time cleaning up the painted window with hot water!

　横浜市民ギャラリーあざみ野では、子ども向けの創造的なアート活動を展開しています。親子のフリーゾーンは、赤ちゃんでも取り組める人気のプログラムの一つです。しかし、来日したばかりの外国人家族からは、「日本語がわからないので申し込みができない」「ホームページで翻訳があるといい」という声が聞かれました。そこでSCCは、いろいろな国から来た子どもたちが参加できるようにチラシや申込書の英語・日本語翻訳（認定NPO法人地球学校が校正）、ガイダンス動画の英語ナレーション、当日の通訳アテンドをして英語と日本語でのコミュニケーションをサポートしました。

昨年の体験会以降、親子のフリーゾーンに参加する外国人家族も増え、SCCがその橋渡しをしたことをうれしく思っています。また、寒い日に子どもたちやご家族がたくさん活動しているのを見て、私たちもうれしかったです。子どもたちは窓に描いた絵をお湯できれいに洗うのを楽しんでいました！
