2月18日、ラトビア出身（しゅっしん）のダナが中野南台図書館（なかのみなみだいとしょかん）で初（はじ）めて英語（えいご）のおはなし会（かい）をしました。部屋（へや）に入（はい）ると、テーブルの上（うえ）に置かれたたくさんの英語（えいご）の絵本（えほん）が目（め）にとまりました！ 早（はや）く来（き）た子（こ）どもたちは本（ほん）を読（よ）んで、ほかの参加者（さんかしゃ）が来（く）るまで待（ま）っていたり、ダナと日本語（にほんご）でおしゃべりを楽（たの）しんだりしました。ある小学生（しょうがくせい）はダナがどこの国（くに）から来（き）たのかと当（あ）てようとしていました。短（みじか）い時間（じかん）でしたが、子どもたちはラトビアに興味（きょうみ）をもってくれました。最後（さいご）はみんなでラトビア語（ご）のAtā！（あた）でさよならをしました。

On February 18th, Dana from Latvia led the storytelling event in English for the first time at Nakano Minamidai Library.When we entered the room, many children’s English books on the table caught our eyes!!! Children who came early started to read a book and waited until the other participants arrived or enjoyed chatting in Japanese with Dana. One of the elementary school child was wondering where Dana came from and guessing her country. It was a short period but the children showed an interest in Latvia. We all ended the session with a Latvian word Atā! to say goodbye.
