We’ll meet at Oppama station in Yokosuka, and walk the streets to the base of Takatori. From there we’ll walk up the mountain through an old quarry, passing carvings (like the Takatori Buddha) to reach our lunch spot near the observation tower. The area is usually full of rock climbers testing their skills on the many rock faces.
After lunch, we’ll have an interesting hike through the mountain to Jimmuji (Jimmu Temple), before walking to Jimmuji station where the hike will end.
10:45 – Meet at Oppama station (Keikyu line), East Exit
11:15 – Arrive at base of mountain and start walking up, passing the Takatori daibutsu and other carvings in the rock
12:30 – Eat lunch near the observation tower
14:00 – Hike to Jimmuji
16:00 – Depart from Jimmuji station
NOTE: This is a hike, and there are rocky, stair-like sections, so it’s not ideal for very little children or strollers, unless you plan on carrying them a lot. Recommended for kids elementary school age and up.
